Jerome Dehours - Champagne's top "Terroirist"

Jerome Dehours is determined to revolutionize the world of Champagne and we couldn’t be happier to be working with him in this crusade.  Let’s face it; if you’re an independent grower and producer in the world of Champagne, you are a wee, little fish in a gigantic pond of mass produced wines.  The big Champagne houses resemble very little of what the typical winery might look like in your mind; think of them more like gigantic factories pumping out millions of cases of wine, every year trying to recreate that same, familiar “house” style with the hope of creating brand loyalty.  That doesn't exactly scream celebration and romance… 

Jerome’s vision for his wines couldn’t be more opposite if he tried but then again, the Dehours family has always had a knack for doing things against the grain. The domaine was started in the 1930’s based in the Marne Valley. Over the years, the Dehours family has slowly cobbled together 42 incredible vineyard parcels that combine for 26 precious acres.  Jerome grew up amongst these vines and honed his skills at the feet of his forefathers.  With the ability to see each parcel from the back of the domaine’s garden, it might not be a stretch to say that Jerome knows his vines better than he knows himself.

When Jerome took the helm of the domaine, he made sure to make his own stamp on the winemaking and in doing so carved a niche for himself as one of the Marne Valley’s most exciting boutique producers.  Every vineyard parcel tells a different story of the vintage so Jerome makes sure to vinify them separately.  You will always find richness and complexity in every bottle he produces, but his precise winemaking style never lets heavy flavors get in the way of freshness and minerality.  This has led to an amazing line of wines that are always focused on terroir and quality no matter what it takes.

It’s such a pleasure to work with a renegade like Jerome Dehours who is solely focused on making small production wines.  Look forward to future offerings from him that will continue to celebrate the magical terroir of Champagne.
