Montesquieu Partners with MS Society at 31st Annual Ambassadors BallFriday, October 16, 2009 Washington, DC
This past month, Montesquieu partnered with one of the nation’s major non-profit organizations to donate wine to one of Washington DC’s top charity events – the 31st annual Ambassadors Ball benefitting the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The MS Society selected Montesquieu as the exclusive wine provider for the invitation-only VIP Reception that preceded the benefit dinner. Montesquieu also donated a case of its flagship 2006 Napa Valley Derenoncourt Meritage to the Ball’s silent auction.
In addition to supporting a worthy cause, the event provided Montesquieu with the opportunity to pour our wines for members of Congress, ambassadors, and other dignitaries while connecting with DC’s upper echelon of wine enthusiasts. In the spirit of our nation’s Declaration of Independence, the event was all about “life, liberty, and the pursuit of great wine.”
VIP Reception attendees were treated to a sampling of Montesquieu’s diverse, global portfolio. The NV Jerome Dehours L’Insolente Champagne – a rare “brut zero” Champagne – set the tone for the evening with its vibrant, mineral-driven flavors. The 2006 Amura Chardonnay from Chile’s San Antonio Valley showed a citric Chablis-like nerve while Livia Fontana’s 2007 Langhe Arneis proved to be a crowd pleaser with its palate-tickling flavors of pear and slivered almonds. The patrons who sipped on the 2006 Pierre Jean Villa Chateauneuf-du-Pape and 2005 Varej Barbera Superiore throughout the evening were rewarded with the layers of complex flavors that slowly unfurled in those powerful reds. However the Montesquieu Derenoncourt Meritage would ultimately shine brightest amongst these brilliant wines, offering a striking combination of concentration and finesse.
After tasting with Montesquieu, the Reception guests turned their attention to a beautiful meal and the true matter at hand – raising money and awareness for the important work of the MS Society. |
