Stéphane Derenoncourt and Greg Viennois of Chapoutier crafted a masterpiece where unbridled power from Mother Nature meets exceptional balance and finesse. The deepest vivid purple, like night releases a nose full of intense blackberry with crushed anise and well worn leather, savory herbs, rosemary, thyme, lavender all framed by granite.  The palate is rich and chewy with currant, olive tapenade, and notes of warm roasted meat rubbed with dark toasted coffee and spices.  The finish seems to go on forever with sublime tannins caressing the violet-laced cherry, earth and classic black pepper with granite  reappearing in the finish like a welcome and perfect encore.  Stunning, serious Northern Rhône Syrah.
