2007 Rio Mendoza Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva, Mendoza

From one of our favorite producers in Argentina, the 2007 Rio Mendoza Reserva is a delicious, full-bodied example of New World Cabernet moderated by the high-elevation and desert climate of the Mendoza region. Blessed with a deep, glossy magenta color, the wine sports a nose offering complex layers of sweet red currants, graphite, and herbal tea. The Rio Mendoza is fleshy and rich on the palate, with flavors of candied cherry, tobacco and rhubarb and a beautiful streak of acidity. The lengthy finish delivers nuances of earth and leather while showing a ripe, velvety tannin. A rich, juicy Cabernet that has the polish to be a great food pairing wine, especially with summertime fare like grilled meats and veggies.
