Montesquieu Ranked As America's Fastest Growing Wine Distributor in the Private Sector
In its recently published Inc. 5000 list for 2009, Inc. Magazine has recognized Montesquieu as one of America's fastest growing private companies. Montesquieu ranked as the top private, independent wine distributor in the country by revenue growth, as well as the second fastest growing private, independent wine company overall.
In addition to being ranked in the top half of the Inc. 5000 list, Montesquieu was listed among the top 100 companies in the Food and Beverage category, and was recognized as one of the top 50 companies headquartered in the San Diego metropolitan area.
With a growth rate of 153.9 percent over the past several years, Montesquieu joins an exclusive list of the nation's elite businesses that includes prominent names like GoDaddy, Zipcar and Honest Tea. The annual Inc. 5000 list, which is fast becoming a valuable indicator of the overall economic strength of the country, ranks the most important segment of the economy – America's independent-minded entrepreneurs.
Among the companies on the Inc. 5000 list, revenue increased to $214 billion dollars – up $29 billion since the previous year, with a median three-year growth rate of 126 percent. Inc. 5000 members are responsible for creating more than a million jobs, demonstrating the important role private companies play in maintaining the strength and stability of our economy.
In order for a company to be considered for inclusion on the Inc. 5000 list, it must have begun generating revenue by the first week of 2005 so that it can demonstrate a four-year sales track record. It also must have its headquarters located in the United States and be a privately held, for-profit company with revenue over two million dollars in the last year.
