2009 Mariflor Pinot Noir Uco Valley, Mendoza

Stellar high-elevation Pinot Noir from the Uco Valley in Mendoza, by the renowned winemaker/consultant Michel Rolland. Named for his daughter, Marie, Mariflor (Marie's flower) is the crown jewel of his Argentina vineyards.  Glowing ruby with an intensely aromatic nose boasting spicy raspberry, leather and notes of earth.  The palate is full of rich black cherry, peppered strawberry, with nuances of mushroom and black tea. The finish is long and persistent with the reappearance of sweet cherry and raspberry with hints of spice and herbs with powerful yet silky tannins. Gorgeous fall and winter wine for the best holiday fare, including duck, pork and other game birds as well.
